During the anti-corruption campaign launched by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the executive engineer of Pudda has been arrested by the vigilance for accepting a bribe of Rs. The accused has been identified as Gurpreet Singh.
An official spokesperson of Vigilance said that the accused Gurpreet Singh has been arrested on the complaint filed by Gurdarshan Singh, a resident of Daburji village of Amritsar. The complainant said that he was allotted a milk booth by PUDA near Darbar Sahib, Amritsar in 2016.
After this, he went to Canada in 2021, then the booth was being run by his father. Puda demanded a bribe of 20 thousand rupees in exchange for running the booth and also said that if he does not pay the bribe of 20,000 rupees, then the allotment of that booth will be cancelled.
After receiving the complaint, Vigilance investigated the whole matter and arrested Axion Pudda by taking bribe in the presence of 2 government witnesses. Vigilance has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act at Amritsar Range.
