The Aam Aadmi Party has appreciated Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s decision to give an ultimatum to vacate the lands by May 31 to remove illegal encroachments from the government lands. The party said that for the progress and development of Punjab, people should give up illegal occupation. Chief spokesperson of Aam Aadmi Party Punjab, Malwinder Singh Kang, while addressing a press conference at the party headquarters on Friday, said that the people in power during the previous governments in Punjab used the natural wealth and resources to fulfill their personal interests. While Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann wishes that the resources of Punjab should be used for the welfare of the people of Punjab.
Kang said that the state government is committed to freeing the land from illegal encroachments. During the previous Akali-BJP and Congress governments, corrupt people illegally encroached on expensive government lands in violation of rules, causing huge economic losses to the state. Now, in order to bring Punjab back on track and to improve the economic condition, the Hon’ble government has started a campaign to release illegal encroachments on government lands.
Kang appealed to the people that the agenda of Punjab should be development-oriented and positive. Therefore, it is now the responsibility of the people that for the development and progress of Punjab, the people should rise above their personal greed and leave the illegal encroachment on the government lands and return the land to the Punjab government.
He said that in the mission to make government lands free of encroachment, no culprit will be spared, no matter how corrupt he is. He also made it clear that no action will be taken against the poor and needy people who have built houses on Panchayat or government land, nor will the land be taken back from them.
