A medical college will soon be built in Hoshiarpur at a cost of 360 crore rupees

The people of Hoshiarpur will soon get better health facilities. They will not have to go to Jalandhar and Ludhiana for treatment of serious illness. The state government has stepped up for the medical college. With a cost of 360 crores, the medical college and hostel building will be ready inside the civil hospital. The project will be completed by PWD&BR. This will be the 5th medical college of the state.

The honorable government of the state is very serious about building a medical college in Hoshiarpur. This time, a separate budget of 412 crores was provided for the medical college. After this, a step was taken in this direction. The construction work will start by June. However, the site for the medical college had already been marked.

At present, the college will be established in a 23 acre area within the district hospital itself. The college will have 100 MBBS seats. It is the government’s effort that people get the benefits of this hospital soon. Hoshiarpur MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa says that this medical college will prove to be a boon not for Hoshiarpur but for Doaba.

The name of the medical college has been given by the state government as Shaheed Udham Singh State Institute of Medical Science. This college will also prove to be a boon for many districts of Himachal as there is no big government institution in that area too while treatment in private hospitals is expensive.

For the spread of medical education in Punjab, the state government has decided to build 16 new medical colleges in the next 5 years, which will increase the number of medical colleges in the state to 25. This will ensure that a medical college is established in each district of the city.
