Caught pistol theft accused with police party

The police have arrested the person who stole a pistol from the dash board of a car parked in the parking lot of Civil Hospital, Jalandhar. The thief was none other than Ajay Kumar s/o Charanjit Singh, a resident of Danishmanda, the driver of the ambulance in the hospital itself.

The driver of the ambulance, Ajay, overheard the parking ticket holder in the hospital canteen saying that the window of the vehicle parked outside the maternity ward was open. Soon after, Ajay went to the car and stole the pistol from the dash board.

Jarnail Singh s/o Surjit Singh, resident of village Safdarpur of district Hoshiarpur and sub-division Dasuha, had come to Jalandhar to attend a marriage function. Jarnail parked his car in the parking lot of Civil Hospital near the mother-child ward after getting the slip cut. But the conductor side glass of the vehicle remained slightly open.

Instead of taking his licensed pistol with him, Jarnail left it on the dash board of the vehicle while going to the wedding function. Behind, the ambulance driver Ajay stole the pistol from the car after getting a chance. But this whole incident of his theft was captured in the CCTV camera installed there and the police solved the whole matter within a day or two.

As soon as the complaint was received, the police took possession of the CCTV

Station Division Number Four said that as soon as the complaint came to ASI Gurdeep Chand, the police first took the footage of the CCTV cameras installed there. On scanning the footage, footage of Ajay stealing and absconding was found in a camera. After this, when the police confirmed that Ajay had committed the theft, they caught him in the hospital itself. On searching there, a pistol was recovered from him.
