The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has removed the condition of medical checkup and police verification for the 11,096 teachers and other employees recruited from scratch in the education department. 7654 and 3442 employee unions have been demanding from the government for a long time that they are already working in the department and have undergone medical and police verification. In such a case, why should they go through this process again?

Along with this, the department has also removed the condition of two years probation period while regularizing all these teachers and employees as they were already working in the department. In this case the rule of two years probation period for regular employees is also applicable. The employees said that in this way they will have to wait for two years to become regular again. On this, the department also removed this rule.

The Punjab government has formed a committee of officials to give the teachers of the education department the pay scale of Punjab instead of the central one. A cabinet sub-committee will take a decision based on its report. The Cabinet sub-committee chaired by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema also met the representatives of the Punjab Pay Scale Restoration Joint Morcha on Tuesday and heard their views.

Cabinet ministers Aman Arora and Kuldeep Dhaliwal also participated in the cabinet sub-committee. The next meeting of the cabinet sub-committee will be held on August 31 and a decision will be taken after considering the report by then. The front leaders say that why the employees recruited after 17 July 2020 are being given the pay scales of the center instead of the pay scales of Punjab. Along with this, the period of probation should also be reduced and the full salary should be given, which is currently being fixed for three years and is being paid very little.
