Bureau Report: A delegation led by President Harjinder Singh Dhami met Home Minister Amit Shah after the agitation for the SGPC elections intensified. The meeting took place in the home minister’s office. The delegation has handed over a demand letter to the Home Minister, although it is not yet clear on which issues have been discussed. But Gurcharan Singh Grewal, General Secretary of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has certainly told that he has raised the issue of 8 constituencies of Haryana Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee during the current SGPC elections. There has been a discussion about how the voting list will be prepared. Apart from this, the issue of Bandi Singhs is also directly related to the Center and the Center has been urged to take a decision on that issue as soon as possible. There has also been a demand to bring the control of other gurdwaras of the country under the SGPC.
Akali Dal has repeatedly been demanding to make All India Gurdwara Act by amending the SGPC Act, currently SGPC does not have control over 2 Takhts apart from Punjab. A board is formed to run the Takht Hazur Sahib Nanded Committee, the board members are appointed by the Maharashtra government, there is no interference from the SGPC, while in Takht Patna Sahib, a separate committee looks after the historical shrines. is
