5th Under-15 Amanjit Memorial Inter School T-20 Cricket Tournament, YPS Mohali emerged as champions

Yadavindra Public School Mohali registered a resounding victory in the 5th Under-15 Amanjit Memorial Inter School T20 Cricket Tournament held at YPS, Mohali Cricket Ground here.

In an important and decisive match, YPS Batting first, Mohali scored 146/4 in 20 overs, including Harjagateswar Khaira’s unbeaten 64 off just 55 balls with 8 classical fours. This innings has put Harjagateswar in the ranks of classical batsmen.

Other notable contributors included Ayaan Srivastava with 21 runs and Adeshwar Sidhu with a valuable 24 runs.

Chasing the target given by the opposing team, the team of Learning Paths School managed to score only 93/5 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Adeshwar Singh Sidhu of YPS Mohali took 3 wickets and was adjudged Man of the Match in the final.

On this occasion, the chief guest was Major General TPS. Waraich, Director YPS, Mohali distributed the trophies to the winners.

It may be mentioned that this tournament was organized in the memory of late Amanjit Singh, an old student of YPS Mohali, whose parents Mr. Manjit Singh and Mrs. Satwinder Kaur were special guests during the final match.

Harjagateswar Singh Khaira was declared the man of the tournament, scoring 166 runs at an average of 83 at a strike rate of 107.79 in 4 innings. This all-rounder also contributed brilliantly behind the wickets with 3 stumpings and thus he was adjudged the best wicket-keeper of the tournament.

YPS left-arm orthodox Samyan Khanduja who took 12 wickets in 5 matches won the best bowler of the tournament award. Anhad Singh, who scored an unbeaten 95 in the semi-final against Souppins School, was declared the best batsman of the tournament. Ayan Rana of LPS, Mohali was adjudged the Player of the Tournament for his all-round performance.

Earlier in the first semi-final, YPS Mohali defeated Saufinj Chandigarh by 64 runs and Learning Path School Mohali defeated Vivek High School Chandigarh by just 2 runs in a stalemate.

Eight teams participated in the tournament including YPS Mohali Blue, Saufins School Chandigarh, St Stephen’s Chandigarh, Vivek High School Chandigarh, Learning Path School Mohali, AKIPS Chandigarh, St Soldier Chandigarh and YPS Mohali Yellow.

The tournament teams were divided into two pools with 4 teams in Pool A and 4 teams in Pool B. Each team played at least 3 league matches apart from the semi-finals and final.
