ISRO on Saturday shared a second video of the Pragyan rover moving over the Shiva-Shakti point (the place where the lander landed on the moon). Earlier on August 25, ISRO had shared a video of Pragyan rover exiting Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram lander. The lander landed on the moon on August 23 at 6.4 pm.

The Pragyan rover will orbit the lander half a kilometer in the next 11 days, ISRO said. It moves at a speed of one centimeter per second and is using navigation cameras to scan its surroundings. ISRO has shared 10 photos and 4 videos of the Moon mission so far.

ISRO also stated that the Chandrayaan-3 mission had 3 objectives, of which 2 have been successfully accomplished – 1. Safe and soft landing on the lunar surface. 2. Managed to operate the rover on the surface of the moon. 3. Scientific investigation is currently underway on the surface of the Moon. All payloads are operating normally.

August 26: The Pragyan rover is seen walking on the surface of the Moon
The rover is orbiting the spot where the lander landed on the moon. The landing took place at the South Pole of the Moon. In fact, the polar regions of the Moon are quite different from the other regions. There are many parts where sunlight never reaches and the temperature goes down to -200 degrees Celsius. In such a case, scientists speculate that water may still exist here in the form of ice.

The Pragyan rover has India’s national symbol Ashoka Pillar and the ISRO logo on its back two wheels. As the rover landed on the moon, its wheels left imprints of these symbols on the lunar soil.

August 25: Vikram Lander’s ramp video shared

ISRO has shared a video of the ramp of the Vikram lander before the rover came out. That caused the rover to come down. The Chandrayaan-3 mission has three parts. Propulsion Module, Lander and Rover. They have a total of 7 payloads. A payload named SHAPE is mounted on Chandrayaan-3’s propulsion module. It is orbiting the Moon and testing for radiation coming from Earth.

There are three payloads on the lander. Rambha, Shuddha and Ilsa. There are two payloads on the trajectory. The American space agency NASA also has a device called Laser Retroreflector Array. It has been installed on the lander of Chandrayaan-3. It is used to measure the distance of the Earth from the Moon.
