Jalandhar Lok Sabha By-Election: Punjab Revenue Minister and MLA of Hoshiarpur Bram Shankar Jimpa said that the work of Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur-Chintpurni road has stopped due to election code due to Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election. He said that as soon as the election code is over, the construction of the road will be started, because tenders have already been called for the construction of the road.
He said that the road construction work has been stopped due to the Election Commission’s ban. The cabinet minister said that the Punjab government had written to the Election Commission seeking permission to start the road construction work, but the commission has asked to start the construction work only after the completion of the election code. It is worth mentioning that for the construction of the road, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has sanctioned 13.74 crore rupees for the construction of this 39 km long road.
About 14 km area of the road falls in Jalandhar district and 25 km area in Hoshiarpur district. Bram Shankar Jimpa said that this road is very important because many pilgrims go to important religious places like Mata Chintapurni, Mata Jawala ji, Mata Kangra Devi ji, Mata Chamunda Devi ji, Mata Baglamukhi ji and Baba Balak Nath ji through this road. They go for darshan.
Bram Shankar Jimpa said that millions of people also pass through Hoshiarpur to visit the famous tourist cities of Dharamshala and Maklodganj in North India. Therefore, considering the importance of this road, the construction of this road is being done on a priority basis by the Punjab government.
