WPL Auction 2023: Harmanpreet Kaur to play for Mumbai Indians, bought for 1.8 crore

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur along with 11 other cricketers of the Punjab Cricket Association have made it to the auction list of the Women’s Premier League. Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur of Moge has been bought by Mumbai Indians for 1.8 crores. His base prize was kept at 50 lakhs.

Apart from all-rounder Harman, wicket-keeper Tania Bhatia and all-rounder Amanjot Kaur have been kept at a base price of Rs 30 lakh. On the other hand, Patiala’s Mannat Kashyap, Kanika Ahuja Neelam Bisht, Pragati Singh, Neetu Singh (all-rounder), Komalpreet Kaur (medium fast bowler), Mehek Kesar (off-spinner), Muskan Soghi and Sunita Singh of Patiala at a base price of Rs 10 lakh. The name is on the auction list.

WPL auction starts today. A total of 409 cricketers will be auctioned at the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai. Therefore, 1525 players were registered out of which the names of 409 players were announced.

5 teams have come forward for WPL who will field their team from these 409 players. Therefore, each team has been given a wallet of Rs 12 crore. Out of 409, 24 players are in the star list whose base price has been kept at Rs 50 lakh. It also includes Harmanpreet Kaur from Punjab. Every team will try to have Harman play for their team. His bid can go above Rs 1 crore.

WPL is being organized by BCCI from March 4 to 26. A total of 22 matches will be played at Bebran Stadium and DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
