Workers trapped in tunnel for 10 days, food sent through pipeline

A few hours after sending khichdi through a 6-inch pipeline to 41 laborers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel for the past 10 days, rescue workers sent a camera (endoscopic flexi camera) to them early on Tuesday and released the first video of their recovery.

Official sources said that after the camera arrived from Delhi late on Monday evening, it was sent inside the tunnel. He said that in the released video, workers wearing yellow and white helmets are seen receiving the food sent through the pipeline and talking to each other. This is a great relief for the families of these workers.

In this, the debris was sent to the workers on Monday through a 6-inch diameter pipeline. Khichdi was packed in wide mouthed plastic bottles and delivered to the workers. Colonel Deepak Patil, in-charge of the rescue operation being carried out in the tunnel, said that porridge, khichdi, sliced โ€‹โ€‹apples and bananas can be sent through this pipeline.

Security personnel involved in the rescue operation, Nipu Kumar, said that walkie-talkies and 2 chargers have also been sent in the pipeline to establish communication. The Indian Air Force has transported 36 tons of heavy machinery through one C-17 and 2 C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft under the efforts being made from several directions to evacuate the workers.

In this, the sources said that the work of making the way out of the American Agar machine towards the Silkyara tunnel is about to start again. The team from Delhi has fixed this machine which stopped after hitting a hard surface on Friday afternoon.

Doctor Prem Pokhriyal, who inquired about the health of the workers, has advised the rescue workers to send them a meal of moong dal khichdi, which includes soya bean and peas, on Tuesday. Apart from this, they have also advised to send bananas.
