Why did Haryana government start pension for single women?

[ad_1]

Bureau Report: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced 4 major schemes for the people of the state. The most important plan is to start a pension scheme for singles and those whose wives have died.

Haryana has become the first state to start such a pension. It was an election issue in Haryana since 2014. At that time, during the elections in Haryana, the former president of BJP OP Dhankhar made an election promise saying that he would bring girls from Bihar to marry the boys of the state. At that time there was a BJP and JDU government in Bihar. From this it can be inferred that boys were not getting girls to get married in Haryana. There is a big reason behind this, we will also tell you about it, but first let us tell you about the big promise made by the Khattar government for single women.

71 thousand single women of Haryana will get pension

There are 71 thousand singles in Haryana whose income is up to 1 lakh 80 thousand and they fall in the age bracket of 40 to 60 years. The government will now give a monthly pension of Rs 2750 to all of them, the government will spend Rs 20 crore on this every month. 240 crores will be spent on this scheme annually. Apart from this, those whose wife has died, if their age is between 45 and 60, then they have also been brought under the ambit of pension. For them, the income condition has been set up to 3 lakhs. Those people will get the benefit of this pension, whose annual income is less than 3 lakhs. The number of such people in Haryana is around 5 thousand.

Formation of Randa Union

How big an issue is the problem of unmarried marriage in Haryana, it can be estimated from the fact that in 2014, a round union was formed here. This union was for those people who could not get married. This union was led by social worker Sunil Jagwal, who raised a slogan in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, ‘Bahu ko vot do’. The purpose behind this was to overcome the low sex ratio in Haryana, which resulted in the ‘girl killing’ due to boy tea in Haryana so much that boys were not getting girls for marriage.
Girls were being bought from other states and brought to continue the lineage. When Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi came to Haryana in 2014, he mentioned Sunil Jagwal’s campaign and promised that if his government comes, he will definitely do something for those single women. After 9 years, now the BJP government has completed it by giving pension to single women. But Sunil Jagwal says that this problem is very big, when he surveyed the villages, there were 25 to 30 such people in each village, who were not able to get married, there were 10 such people above the age of 45. Those who were not expected to get married used to come to the red zone. Apart from this, when their marriage was not going on, some people of the village had teased them due to which their mental condition had become very bad.

Sex ratio improved in Haryana

During the 3 decades from 80, 90 to 2010 in Haryana and Punjab, girls were killed in the womb for the desire of a boy. Both the states had a black mark on the forehead of the girl child. The result of which has come out in the form of Rand Union and now the decision to give pension to single women. However, if we look at the data of the last few years, there has been a significant improvement in the gender ratio in Haryana and Punjab. According to the 2022 survey, 917 girls have been born behind 1 thousand boys. There is an increase of three points compared to 2021. While in 2011 it was 833 per thousand boys, 832 in 2012, 868 in 2013, 871 in 2014 and 876 in 2015. While in 2016 it had increased to 900 for the first time, in 2017 it was 914, in 2018 it was 923, in 2019 and 2020 the number of girls reached 922. Although in 2021 it again decreased to 914, but in 2022 it saw an improvement of three points.

No improvement in gender ratio in Punjab

An improvement in the gender ratio has also been seen in Punjab in 2015. In 2015-16, the sex ratio of the state directly reached 904 from 860, i.e. 904 girls were born after 1 thousand boys, while earlier this figure had reached 800 and 700 due to girl child mortality. From 2010 to 2020, the ratio of girls in Punjab was 900 out of 1000, this was a sign of improvement, but according to the data of 2023, it has once again declined. The current sex ratio in Punjab has reached 895, which is the national average of 940. is much lower than During 2001, the sex ratio in Punjab reached 876, which was a cause of great concern. In 2001, Fatehgarh district had the worst situation where 766 girls were born for every 1000 boys, but now it has improved to 908. Barnala district is at the top regarding the birth of girls. Here the sex ratio figure is 938, while Mohali is second with 933, Ludhiana is third with 929, Patiala is fourth with 922 and Kapurthala is fifth with 921 girls born after 1000 boys. happening Now let me tell you who are in bad condition. The lowest new city is 870. After this is Pathankot 877, Rupnagar 879, Gurdaspur 884. All these districts are alarm bells. Even in Punjab, girls are not getting married for boys, although the situation is not like Haryana, but if this is not controlled, the day is not far when single women in Punjab will be forced to form their own union and pay pension to the government. for
