However, after the meeting, Biden showed through his statement that the relations between the two countries will not return to normal so easily. In fact, during the conversation with the media after the meeting with Xi Jinping, Biden called Xi Jinping a dictator. China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi also expressed objection in this regard.
America’s power will increase in the Philippines
This initiative of Philippine President Marcos is being said to strengthen the defense treaty relationship between the two. According to a Reuters report, Marcos’ decision will double the number of American forces in the Philippines. With this, America will have access to those bases, due to which it will be able to help Taiwan easily. Marcos said US and Philippine forces will conduct joint patrols and boost each other’s morale.
China has already given a warning
A day before this, the President of the Philippines Marcos, referring to the proximity of the Chinese military to the coast of the Philippines, said that the situation in the South China Sea has become more serious than before. It is believed that the joint patrols by US and Philippine forces could provoke China, as it has already warned the US against engaging in such activities. This is because China claims most of the South China Sea through the nine-dash line. Relations between the Philippines and China have continued to deteriorate under Marcos due to ever-increasing barriers and rhetoric.
There is rhetoric between America and China regarding the Philippines
Recently, a Chinese coast guard ship rammed a Philippine supply boat in the South China Sea. This incident took place in the Thomas Shoal area, over which there is a dispute between the two countries. A video of it has also been released. Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro claimed that the Chinese Coast Guard accused the naval vessel of violating international law. It was also claimed that China shot down two Philippine ships. On this, America condemned this action of China. After this, China has also warned America to stay away from this matter.
