Nagpur, Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has produced 60.20 million tonnes of coal as on 19 March 2023, which is 13.4% higher than the previous year. It is worth mentioning that this is the highest coal production done in any one financial year since the inception of WCL.
On this special occasion, Mr. Manoj Kumar, CMD congratulated Team WCL for these achievements. He further said that this historic growth in WCL is the result of several positive initiatives.
It may be informed that in the company’s 60.20 million tonnes of coal production, the maximum contribution of 15.02 million tonnes of coal was from the forest sector. Similarly, 12.27 million tonnes of Umred area, 7.51 million tonnes of Ballarpur area and 7.98 million tonnes of Nagpur area have been a significant contribution of coal production.
The confidence of Team WCL to achieve the target of 62 million tonnes of coal production for the financial year 2022-23 is clearly visible.
