Water level of Bhakra Dam increased, yellow alert issued

The situation seems to be returning to normal after the floods in Punjab, but due to rain in Himachal, the water level in Ghaggar river has started to rise once again. The water level of Ghaggar is rising in Haryana’s Panchkula region, after which an alert has been issued on the banks of Ghaggar in other areas including Mansa. Apart from the rescue teams, the district administration has also started preparations so that the situation does not become like before.

Also, the water level in Bhakra Dam has crossed 1651, which is 6 feet above the flood gate level, but the water level is 29 feet below the danger level. The water level in the Nangal Dam below Bhakra is said to be 1951, which is just 3 feet below the danger level.

In such a situation, it is being expressed that after the rain in Himachal today, looking at the situation, the flood gates of Bhakra can be opened. SDM Nangal has issued an alert that if more water is released from Bhakra, a flood-like situation may arise in the vicinity of Sutlej.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has again issued a yellow alert in the entire state today. Alert has been issued in Patiala, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, SBS Nagar, Tarn Taran, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala till 1 pm. On the other hand, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Himachal today. Orange alert has been issued in Kullu-Mandi and Shimla.

Due to the alert of the meteorological department, the teams of the respective districts are monitoring the surrounding areas of Ravi, Beas, Sutlej and Ghaggar. According to the data released by the Meteorological Department, from July 22 to 24, rain with thunder may occur in different areas of the state. A storm warning has also been issued, due to which cities and areas may be flooded.
