Vigilance registers case against Naib Tehsildar and Patwari on charges of tampering with revenue records

Punjab Vigilance Bureau during its ongoing anti-corruption campaign has found Naib Tehsildar Amarjit Singh and Patwari Balwinderjit Singh posted at sub tehsil Attari for misusing their official positions and tampering with revenue records to benefit a woman by transferring land in her name. A criminal case has been registered against the said three accused.

In this case, the said Patwari Balwinderjit Singh (now Kanungo), posted at Mall Halka Neshta District Amritsar, has been arrested and teams have been formed to arrest the rest of the accused.

Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that this case has been registered against the accused employees and the woman after the vigilance investigation. Giving details, he said that during the investigation, it has come to light that the said revenue employees had colluded with the said woman Harjit Kaur, a resident of village Muhawa, district Amritsar, and transferred 79 marles of land in her name.

He further said that while transferring the land in the name of the said woman, the accused employees tampered with the government revenue records as the owner of the said land had died in the year 1959 and now on the basis of photocopies of fake certificates and The land was transferred in the name of that woman without the presence of the land owners on the occasion.

The spokesperson further said that in this regard, IPC has been filed against all the above accused. A case under section 420, 467, 468, 471, 120-B and section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered in the Amritsar range of the Vigilance Bureau and further investigation of the matter is on.
