Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian said during a review meeting of various departmental projects and activities with Additional Chief Secretary Animal Husbandry Vikas Pratap here at Punjab Bhavan that for the prevention of any possible spread of this disease, the goat pox vaccine has been boosted for the third time. being administered as a dose.

Let it be known that after the spread of the disease across the country last year, a vaccination campaign was launched for animals in the state to prevent this disease. He asked the officials to ensure uninterrupted supply of medicine for vaccination besides maintaining a cold chain.

Gurmeet Singh Khudian emphasized the need to create a foolproof method to protect animals from diseases and also instructed the officials of the department to prepare a comprehensive vaccination action plan within a month. He also instructed the field staff of the department to educate the animal husbandry about the benefits of various vaccination campaigns and to involve the district administration and panchayats in this process so that the animals can be protected from various diseases.

ACS Mr. Vikas Pratap told the Cabinet Minister that a dewarming campaign is being conducted across the state at a cost of about Rs.6.37 crore. This campaign will end on February 10. Apart from this, medicines worth Rs 1.56 crore have already been sent to the veterinary hospitals and dispensaries of the state. He also said that the department has recently completed a comprehensive vaccination campaign for the prevention of foot-and-mouth disease.
