The government has given a big blow to those who want to go to America. The US has drastically increased the fees for the most popular H-1B, EB-5 and L-1 visas among Indians. The fee is being increased for the first time after the year 2016 which will be effective from April 1. The H-1B visa is a nonimmigrant visa that allows U.S. companies to hire foreign workers in specialized occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise.

Industrial companies depend on this policy to hire thousands of employees every year in countries like India and China. The US government started the EB-5 program in 1990, which allows foreign investors to invest at least US$500,000 in US businesses and obtain US visas for themselves and their families. The EB-5 program helps employ 10 American workers.

The H-1B registration fee will increase from $10 to $215 next year. The L-1 visa fee has been increased from US$ 460 to US$ 1385 and the popular EB-5 visa fee as an investor visa has been increased from US$ 3675 to US$ 11,160.
