[ad_1]

It will be expensive to travel in a government bus in Punjab now. Pepsu Road Transport Corporation has prepared to increase the bus fare by 10 paise per km. Soon the proposal is being sent by the corporation to the Punjab government.

The increased fare will be implemented as soon as it gets the green signal. Surinder Singh, general manager of PRTC, said that the financial burden on the corporation has increased due to the increase in diesel rates. A proposal to increase the bus fare is being sent to the government. Hope the government approves it.

Recently, the Punjab government has increased the rate of diesel by 90 paise per litre, after which the rate of diesel has reached 88.34 rupees per litre. This has increased the financial burden on the PRTC. PRTC currently has 1238 buses, the daily cost of diesel in running the routes is about Rs 86 lakh, but with the increase in diesel rates, this cost has increased to Rs 80,000 per day, which is 24 per month. One lakh will be Rs. In such a situation, it will be heavy for the corporation, which is already struggling with financial difficulties, to bear the cost of this 24 lakh increased diesel.

Corporation officials say that earlier in July 2020, the Punjab government had increased the fare of government buses in the state by 6 paise per kilometer. At that time the rate of diesel was 70 rupees per liter while the rate of diesel is touching 90 rupees. At present the bus fare is Rs 1.22 per km. PRTC will send a proposal to the government and demand an increase in the fare by Rs 10 per kilometer to Rs 1.32.

350 crores of PRTC is pending with the Punjab government. Of these, 250 crores are for free bus travel for women. In return for this facility, the corporation is not getting any payment from the government from July 2022 while the number of women traveling in PRTC buses is increasing every month. Due to non-payment of this money, it is becoming difficult for the corporation to pay the employees. The employees have not received the salary and pension for the month of January.
