Mumbai. The Mumbai Customs on Sunday seized a huge consignment of one million tablets meant for export to South Sudan. Its cost has been estimated at Rs 21 crore. In this regard, searches were conducted in three cities including Mumbai.
The seized bullets were tested by the Mumbai Customs. The results of which made it clear that it was ‘Tramadol’, which is a narcotic substance. In this case, searches were conducted in Bengaluru, Guntur and Mumbai and three people have been arrested.
An export consignment to South Sudan containing approximately 10 lakh tablets were intercepted by Mumbai customs. Test results confirmed it to be ‘Tramadol’ which is a psychotropic substance. Mumbai Customs informed, “A consignment of about one million tablets meant for export to South Sudan was intercepted by Mumbai Customs. The test results confirmed that it was ‘Tramadol’ which is a narcotic substance. The value of the seized medicines is Rs 21 crore. Searches were conducted in Bengaluru, Guntur and Mumbai and three persons were arrested. The investigation is on.”
Earlier, on March 10, Mumbai Customs had seized over 3 kg of gold worth Rs 1.40 crore from three foreign nationals who had arrived in Mumbai from Addis Ababa. These people hid the gold in undergarments and soles of shoes. All three have been arrested in custody on charges of smuggling.
