Recently, the governor of Punjab also issued orders not to use red tomatoes in his kitchen. Vegetable and fruit sellers at Mansa said that tomato has become more expensive than any other fruit. Where Kashmiri apple is selling at Rs 150 to 250 while tomato is selling at Rs 250 to 300 per kg.
Here people have started preferring to buy fruits while customers have also turned away from tomatoes. He said that the price of tomato which used to be sold from 10 to 50 rupees today has increased so much that there is no tendency to carry tomatoes in the kitchen anymore.
Shinderpal Singh, a customer who bought vegetables in the market, said that the prices of tomatoes are very high in the market today. Due to which everyone is repenting from buying tomatoes today. Also, he said that those who used to leave the fruit after seeing it as expensive, today that fruit is also being sold cheaper than tomato. He appealed to the government to curb inflation.
