Crowds gathered to buy rice in the markets
A statement issued by the Food Ministry last week said that there has been no change in the export policy of Basmati rice and all varieties of Usna rice. That is, only export of non-basmati raw rice has been banned. However, basmati rice is largely exported from India. In view of the increase in the domestic prices of non-basmati rice, the government has decided to ban the export. After this, videos of chaos to buy rice in America are going viral on social media.

The impact of India’s ban on rice exports can be estimated by looking at the videos and pictures of shopping going viral on social media. Locals are sharing videos of the stores on Twitter. The reports in this regard are even saying that people are standing in queues to buy rice on holidays. Each person is seen buying 10 packets of rice inside the store. Here, a 9 kg packet of rice is being sold for $27 (Rs. 2215).
People standing in long queues
However, we are not verifying the videos and pictures going viral on social media. But it is being told that outside the super market people are forced to stand in long queues to buy rice. Importantly, people of Indian origin live in large numbers in America and rice is an important part of their daily diet.
America consumes a lot of rice exported from India and India’s decision to ban rice has created such a situation there. It is also being told that in view of this crowd at the shops, rice is being sold at expensive prices in many places.
