Peas are getting Rs 160 per kg, cabbage Rs 100 per kg. The price of pulses is also Rs 120 per kg. Potato, which used to fetch Rs 10 per kg, is now fetching Rs 30 per kg. Onion is also selling at around Rs 40 per kg.

Effect of rain on mountains
The traders of the vegetable market of Sector 26 say that the vegetable crop has been destroyed due to the rain on the mountains. Due to this, an increase in prices is being seen. Often the prices of vegetables go up these days but this time some more have gone up.

Vegetables are 40 percent more expensive than last year
Every time the price of vegetables increases during the rainy season. But this time the prices of vegetables have increased by almost 40 percent compared to last year. Due to closure of Chandigarh Shimla highway, this problem has increased. Now some vegetables have started arriving from Bengaluru. Now the prices of vegetables will gradually come down.

Brij Mohan, head of Sector 26 Vegetable Market Aarti Association, says that apart from Chandigarh, vegetables are supplied from Sector 26 market in Mohali and Panchkula. Aartis lack space for shed expansion. Due to this he is not able to keep the vegetables in stock. Due to high demand, prices of vegetables increase. If there is a shed extension, the stock can be extended.
