Celebration of August 15: Sarpanchs of around 662 villages bordering China in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh will be special guests at the August 15 celebrations. All these villages come under the Centre’s Vibrant Village Program (VVP). Let us tell you that this time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give a speech from the Red Fort, the Sarpanch of the villages bordering China will also witness it.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) headquarters has directed its personnel to appoint Liaison Officers in these districts. The responsibility of these officials will be to bring the sarpanches from the district headquarters to Delhi and take them back. All Liaison Officers will be from ITBP.

This special arrangement was made

The departmental order of ITBP has asked to make special arrangements for these guests. Special care has been given to female guests in particular. Adequate provision will also be made for the number of women employees for women guests. There may be some districts where no such person is available, in which case the best option will be selected by the Liaison Officer (LO).

In case of women it can be a bit difficult. It is possible that in such a situation a woman who has good English will be selected. All the guests will be brought to Delhi by flight. Not only this, all the sarpanches of the border villages have also been informed about this under the Vibrant Village programme.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Sarpanch Sarita Rawat of Bagori village in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand said that on July 2, I was informed by panchayat officials that I have to attend the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. Apart from me, eight neighboring sarpanches have also received the invitation letter. ITBP jawans are constantly contacting us.

What is the Vibrant Village Program?

Let it be known that the Vibrant Village program was announced in the 2022 budget. Under this programme, infrastructure is to be improved in areas bordering China. Under the scheme, around 2,967 villages in 46 blocks of 19 districts along the country’s northern border in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh have been identified for ‘comprehensive development’. 662 villages have been selected for the first phase of the scheme. 4,800 crore will be spent on better infrastructure in these villages.
