An Apple Store in the US has a daring heist straight out of a Hollywood movie. In a scene lifted from ‘Ocean’s Eleven’, thieves enter the store through a bathroom and make off with 436 iPhones worth Rs 4.10 crore.

Thieves broke into Seattle Coffee Gear and cut a hole in the bathroom wall to gain access to the Apple Store’s backroom, reports KING 5 News, a local news channel in Seattle. Thieves bypassed the Apple Store’s security system and used a neighboring coffee shop to steal 436 iPhones worth around $500,000 or around Rs 4.10 crore.

Eric Marks, regional retail manager, revealed that he received a call the morning after the incident but was unsure of what to expect. However, the police confirmed that his shop was used to access the Apple Store.

“I’ll never doubt that we’re next door to an Apple store, how it wraps around me,” Marcus told King 5 News. “So, someone had to really think about it and approach the mall layout.”

The coffee shop’s CEO, Mike Atkinson, also posted on Twitter about the incident along with a picture of a tunnel that thieves created in an Apple Store bathroom “Two men entered one of our retail locations. Why? To cut a hole in us? “To steal a bathroom wall and $500k worth of iPhones to get to the Apple store next door,” he tweeted.

Seattle Coffee Gear spent about $900 to replace its locks and expects to spend between $600 and $800 on bathroom repairs. Police are investigating the crime and assisting Alderwood Mall, where the stores are located. According to Seattle’s King 5 News, the speed and accuracy of the crime has led some, including Atkinson, to believe it was an inside job.
