95% of rabies cases are caused by dog bites alone. In many cases after a dog bite, people turn to home remedies. But the virus of this disease cannot be eliminated by any home remedies. Anti-rabies vaccine is the only effective vaccine against this disease.
Doctors say that if a person has been bitten by a dog and has a wound, he should be vaccinated as soon as possible. Try to get the vaccine within 24 hours. It is not good to delay more than this.
What to do first if a dog bites you
Dr. NR Rawat of Rajasthan Animal Science University says that the first thing to do when a dog bites you is to see if there is a wound or not. If there is no wound then there is nothing to worry about. But if there is a wound, wash it first. In the meantime, do not stick to any home remedies and see a doctor immediately.
Even if there is a small scratch or wound after a dog bite, it is still necessary to get the anti-rabies vaccine. This is because the rabies virus is in the dog’s saliva. If this saliva comes into contact with blood from a person’s skin, there is a risk of rabies infection.
Are there any risks from pet dogs?
If the pet dog has not been vaccinated against rabies, rabies can also spread to humans. In such a case, do not be careless in any way. Vaccinate even if a pet dog is bitten.
