The pilgrimage to Sri Hemkunt Sahib, a religious place of Sikhs located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, is going to start from May 20. The portals of Sri Hemkunt Sahib are scheduled to open after about seven months. Indian Army personnel are working day and night to ensure that the passengers do not face any problem and are traversing the snow cover more than 15 feet high.

Every year before the onset of snowfall in winter, the doors of Sri Hemkunt Sahib Gurdwara built in the Himalayan hills are closed. These doors are kept closed for 6 to 7 months. Currently Gurdwara Sahib manager Gurnam Singh and the servicemen have also arrived along with the army. On this occasion, along with the army personnel, the manager Gurnam Singh also prayed for peace.

Path made from Atkoli Glacier
Troops of 418 Engineering Corps are mobilized to make way for Sri Hemkunt Sahib Gurdwara. In the past, the army had cut 4 feet of snow from the Atalkoti glacier and made a path. Now these youths are engaged in removing snow from Astha Marg.

Problems due to recent snowfall
The effect of Western Disturbance is also being seen on the hills of Uttarakhand. For the last few days, the weather has remained bad in the hills of Uttarakhand. Along with this, the weather is likely to turn bad again in the beginning of May. In such a situation, army personnel are also facing difficulty in making way.
