Bureau Report: 60 families of Pathankot district have made up their mind to leave the area, all the families are residents of Jungadh, Haled village of Dhar, semi-mountainous area of Pathankot. There has been no development in the village for 50 years, due to which the residents of the village have put up posters outside the houses and shops that they are ready to sell the house and shop, if anyone wants to buy, come forward. This is the first time such a case has come to light in Pathankot. Expressing displeasure with the Punjab government, Panch Surjan Singh of Ward 5, former Panch Ranjit Singh of Ward 4 and other panchs and sarpanches said that no development has taken place in their area and no plan has been started.
The people of the ward said that the streets, drains, ponds, ground, crematorium are in a bad condition in ward number 4 and 5. Local people are worried about electricity and water, the people of the village said that for these problems they approached BDPO three times in Dhar Kalan and twice in Pathankot, three times in Powercom Department, twice in MDO Public Health, twice in SDO Mandi Board Pathankot and others. They have met the officials of the departments, but so far no one has heard their grievances.
The villagers themselves built a playground and a crematorium
People said that our ancestors kept pleading with the then governments to construct a playground and a crematorium in the village, but the government and the administration did not pay any attention to it. Later, the people of the village collected money and built a crematorium 2 years ago and a playground 7 years ago, but that is still incomplete. People allege that no help has been received from the previous and present government. People allege that many people have left the village due to lack of basic facilities and many are preparing to leave.
Contacting people to buy houses and land
Disgruntled villagers say that around 60 families want to sell their houses and property and settle in the village where there is development. They have put up posters outside houses and shops asking anyone who wants to buy our house and land to contact us.
