Vigilance Bureau arrested patwari on charges of taking bribe

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Patwari Prem Kumar posted in District SBS Nagar on the charge of accepting a bribe of Rs 24,000. The spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that an online complaint was filed on the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line, after which a case has been registered against the revenue employee.

He said that Amarjit Singh, a resident of Karnana, Tehsil Banga, has alleged that the said Patwari took Rs 24,000 as bribe in installments in exchange for registering the transfer of land of his father and his uncle. The complainant recorded the entire conversation of the transaction on his mobile phone and handed over the recording to the vigilance, after which the vigilance registered a case against the patwari after conducting an investigation at its level.
