Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has accused the Indian government of killing a Sikh leader. Trudeau told the Canadian Parliament on Monday that Indian government agents killed Sikh community leader Hardeep Singh Nijhar in British Columbia, Canada in June.

Trudeau also said that he raised the issue with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the G-20 meeting held in India on September 9-10. He said that he is making such allegations based on the intelligence information received by the Canadian government.

Along with this, Canada’s Foreign Minister Melanie Jolly said that the Canadian government has deported an Indian diplomat, who was the head of the Indian intelligence agency in Canada. However, Jolly has not given any information about this diplomat.

Trudeau said – will put pressure on India to cooperate in the investigation
Trudeau told MPs that the involvement of any foreign government in the killing of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil is a violation of our country’s sovereignty. He said that he will put pressure on the Indian government to cooperate in the investigation of this murder.

Prime Minister Trudeau said that the large population of Indian-origin Sikhs living in Canada is outraged by the murder. Many Sikhs fear for their safety. The country has 14 to 18 lakh citizens of Indian origin, most of whom are Sikhs. Jagmeet Singh, the leader of Canada’s opposition New Democratic Party, is from the Sikh community.

There is a fear of further deterioration in the relations between India and Canada due to this allegation
Relations between Canada and India are already strained. With this accusation of the Canadian PM, the relationship between the two countries is likely to deteriorate. Earlier this month, Canada suspended talks on a trade deal with India. Also, during the G-20, PM Modi refused to hold bilateral talks with Justin Trudeau.
Nijhar was killed near a shrine in British Columbia.

Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijhar was the head of the terrorist organization Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF). While living in Canada, he was fueling the Khalistani movement in Punjab for a long time. On June 18, a buffalo was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen near the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Nijhar was also the head of this shrine.

Nijhar was in his car in the parking lot outside the shrine. Meanwhile, two youths came on a motorcycle and started firing. Nijhar did not get time to get out of the car and died on the spot.
