Restrictions on foreign ownership of Canadian residences are being extended on Sunday. The government says this is meant to address the concerns of Canadians.

The increasing number of immigrants and international students is being blamed for the ever-increasing housing problem in Canada. Due to this, the demand for housing has increased, while the construction activity has slowed due to rising inflation. Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said in a statement that all efforts are being made to provide affordable housing for Canadians.

Under this, the ban on foreigners buying houses has been extended for two years. Earlier it was ending on January 1, 2025, now its last date will be January 1, 2027. The Government of Canada also says that due to the increasing interference of foreigners, the prices of houses in Canadian cities and towns have increased significantly.

Last month, Canada also imposed a two-year ban on issuing permits to international students. He also said that he will stop issuing work permits to some students after graduation. In fact, Canada's rapidly growing population has put enormous pressure on health and education. Apart from this, house prices have also increased rapidly.
