Taking strict action against the police outpost in-charge who was aiding drug peddlers, the Ludhiana police registered a case against him and arrested him. This action was taken on the basis of the information received during the interrogation of the two accused who were arrested on the charge of drug trafficking by the Shimlapuri police station.

Addressing the press conference, Police Commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that police station Shimlapuri arrested two motorcycle-riding accused Amritpal Singh alias Chinu and Parvinder Kumar alias Vicky Dhawan and recovered 13 grams of heroin from their possession, which is from Jalandhar. They were coming towards Ludhiana.

During interrogation, one of the accused, Amritpal, said that he was caught by ASI Jarnail Singh, in charge of Chowki Basant Park, with 1 gram of heroin, but he was released when the case of Rs 70,000 was settled. After which the police taking action has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and NDPS Act against the said ASI in Shimlapuri police station.
