The Punjab government is planning to convert rural dispensaries into Aam Aadmi clinics. At present, about 550 subsidiary health centers (dispensaries) are functioning under the Rural Development and Panchayat Department, which can be converted into Aam Aadmi clinics.
According to sources, all civil surgeons have been asked to prepare lists of centers which can be converted into Aam Aadmi clinics. The government is working on a plan to convert 4 dispensaries in each major district and 2 in each small district into Aam Aadmi clinics.
Let us tell you that 580 mohalla clinics are already running in Punjab. 25 lakh patients have been treated in these clinics and 41 types of tests are done here free of charge.
