The Punjab government has issued a strict order regarding the firing of firecrackers

The Punjab government has issued instructions for firing firecrackers on the occasion of Diwali, Gurpurab, Christmas and New Year. The time limit for firing firecrackers has been fixed and apart from this, the decision to fire only green firecrackers has been taken by the state government.

Giving information, Environment Minister Meet Hare said that according to the instructions issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court, National Green Tribunal (NGT), Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, the Punjab government has also only green in the state. Firecrackers are allowed. Appealing to the people, Minister Meet Hare said that such crackers should not be set off in which barium salt or a combination of antimony, lithium, mercury, arsenic, lead or strontium chromate is not used.

He said that manufacture, stock, distribution, sale and use of firecrackers is banned in the state and also any e-commerce website including Flipkart, Amazon and others will neither take any online order nor sell online in the state.

According to the instructions issued by the Punjab Government, on Diwali day from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm, on Gurpurab from 4:00 am to 05:00 pm and on Christmas night from 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm. From 11:55 am to 12:30 am and on New Year’s Eve from 11:55 pm to 12:30 am only green crackers can be fired.
