Patna. The process of fulfilling the long awaited demand of the people of Muzaffarpur district of Bihar has started. Under this, a bridge of about 0.915 km length will be built between Atrar and Bawangama on the Bagmati river. Along with this, a road of about 20 km length including the bridge will be constructed till NH-57 Garha-Hathaudi-Atrar-Bawangama-Aurai.

There will be a saving of one or two hours in reaching Patna.

The people of Sitamarhi, Madhubani and Darbhanga districts including Muzaffarpur will be directly benefited by this bridge. They will save an hour or two in reaching Patna. Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited will get this bridge and road constructed with the help of ADB. This road is part of the fourth phase of the Bihar State Highways Project. The process of seeking proposals for the appointment of a consultant to prepare its DPR will start from February 20. This process will run on March 23 at 12 noon.

After considering the proposals, the top officials will decide

After considering the proposals, the top officials will take a decision. Also, this DPR will be ready in the next six months after the agency is selected for the DPR. After getting the approval of the government on this DPR, the process of construction will start after land acquisition, selection of construction agency. In such a situation, the construction of this bridge and road is likely to start in 2024.

These districts will benefit

According to sources, the people of this area had to travel a distance of 55-65 km to Muzaffarpur district headquarters via Sitamarhi or Darbhanga district. In this regard, the local people had been demanding for a long time to construct a bridge and approach road on the Bagmati river. With the construction of Bagmati bridge, the distance of the district headquarters will be only 30 km. Along with this, the people of Sitamarhi, Madhubani and Darbhanga districts will also benefit from this. They will save an hour or two in reaching Patna.
