Ludhiana Gas Leak: The death toll due to gas leakage in Punjab’s Ludhiana city has increased to 11. Out of these 10 persons belong to three different families. The 11th person has not yet been identified. Local administration, police, medical team and NDRF are present at the spot.
Along with this, the Punjab government has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of those killed in the accident. Apart from this, medical assistance and financial assistance of Rs 50,000 have also been announced for the treatment of the injured.
Giving information about the incident, Deputy Collector of Ludhiana Surbhi Malik said, ‘In the morning we came to know that some people have fainted. NDRF, District Administration, Pollution Control Board, Medical Team and other teams are present. The government has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased. Samples are being taken from the manhole to check where the gas leaked from.
Identification of the people who lost their lives in the gas leak accident
Those who lost their lives in the accident include Kavilash, who runs Aarti Clinic in Gyaspura, his wife Varsha and their three children Kalpana (16), Abhay (13) and Aryan (10). This family was originally from Bihar but these people were living in Punjab for the last 30 years. The other family belongs to Sourav Goyal, who runs Goyal Kirna Store.
Saurav Goyal, his wife Preeti and mother Kamlesh Goyal have died from this family. Apart from this, Saurav’s brother Gaurav is admitted in the hospital. This family hails from Aligarh in UP.
The third family belongs to Navneet Kaur, who worked as an accountant at Aarti Steel near the mosque near Samrat Colony in Gyaspura. Navneet Kaur and his wife Neetu died due to gas leakage. Navneet’s brother Nitin is admitted in the hospital. He is also a native of Bihar and has been living in Ludhiana for the past 20 years. His parents are in Patna, the capital of Bihar. The 25-year-old deceased has not yet been identified.
