Kartarpur Police and Forest Department have busted a gang of wild animal smugglers. A case has been registered against three accused of the gang who made a deal to sell a Bengal tiger cub for Rs 95 lakh and two have been detained. During interrogation, the accused gave their names as Manish Kumar, resident of village Nagla and Anmol Kumar, resident of Tej Mohan Nagar, Jalandhar.

The third accused in the case, Dipanshu Arora, a resident of New Deol Nagar, is still absconding. Kartarpur police chief Ramandeep Singh said that Forest Range Officer Jaswant Singh had filed a complaint that he had received secret information that the Pet Club in Kishangarh. Shopkeeper Manish Kumar smuggles wild animals. The official said that when investigated, it was found that he used to sell wild animals in association with this gang earlier and now he is trying to make a deal for Rs 95 lakh by sending a video of a Bengal tiger cub to customers.

The police station in-charge said that as soon as the complaint was received, after investigating the matter with the forest department, a case has been registered against the accused Manish Kumar Anmol and Dipanshu Arora under the National Wildlife Protection Act 1972 under 10 sections. He has smuggled five eagles and three turtles.

Jaswant Singh, an officer of the Forest Department, said that during interrogation, Manish Kumar admitted that he along with his gang had sold five hawks and three turtles for Rs 6,000 each. The gang also smuggles baby peacocks, parrots and other pets.
