The death sentence given to the murderer with nitrogen gas in America, the first case in the world

For the first time in America, a person was executed by nitrogen gas. 58-year-old Kenneth Eugene Smith has become the first person in the US to be executed by nitrogen gas. Along with this, the debate about the death penalty in America has started again. State administrations say the new method is humane, but critics call it cruel and experimental. Human rights activists, as well as the United Nations and the White House, have condemned the practice.

Smith, 58, was seen writhing in agony for several minutes during the 22-minute execution, which his spiritual adviser Reverend Jeff Hood described as a 'horror show'. Priest Jeff Hood, who witnessed the execution, said prison staff were also unable to hide their shock at the scene.

According to the report, Hood said that “a look of surprise was clearly visible on his face. In that case it's hard to know exactly what it is, but I do know what I saw as fear on the faces of the people in front of me. Priest added that “it looked like a scene made for Hollywood.” It is a scene that will always remain in my memory.”

Hood claimed that although prison officials had assured that this method would result in instant death, the actual scene of the execution was far from it. He said, “Officials always said it was almost immediate action. They were told it would be quick, easy and painless. He kept on saying that this is the most humane way society has ever done to hang people, which will cause the person to faint and die within seconds. “What we saw last night was like a horror show.” “Smith 'looked like a fish out of water, convulsing repeatedly,'” Hood said.

Kenneth Eugene Smith, 58, was taken in on Thursday after inhaling nitrogen gas through a face mask, which led to his death from lack of oxygen, officials said. Smith was pronounced dead at an Alabama prison at 8:25 p.m.

Human rights organizations of the United Nations are criticizing it. The White House has also expressed concern over this manner of death. At the same time, the Attorney General of Alabama is defending this decision and talking about adopting similar methods in the future. The head of the United Nations Human Rights Organization, Volker Turk, has expressed concern over this method. He says it was inhumane.

Raveena Shamdasani, spokeswoman for the United Nations Human Rights Office, said that the death penalty should not be imposed in this century. He said that this method is wrong. At a routine UN briefing in Geneva, Shamdasani said he was writhing and was clearly in pain.
