On the 13th day of the Tokyo Olympics, India has managed to win another medal. Although India had a chance to win its first gold at the Tokyo Olympics, India has won a bronze medal.
The big news right now is that Indian women’s boxer Lovelina Borgohen (69kg) has lost her semi-final match against World Cup winner Busenaz Surmenelli of Turkey. Lovelina had already confirmed the medal. With the defeat in the semi-finals, they will have to settle for a bronze medal.
However, despite losing in the semifinals, Lovelina has made history. Lovelina is the first Indian woman boxer to win a medal in the 69 kg category. Apart from Lovelina, only two Indian athletes have won medals in the history of the Olympic Games. Before Lovelina, Vijender Singh and MC Mary Kom have won bronze medals in the Olympic Games.

But before that, just as Lovelina’s Olympic medal was confirmed, the dirt road to her home is now paved. Local MLA Biswajit Fukan has paved the road leading to Lovelina’s house and it will be repaired soon. After winning the medal, local MLA Biswajit Fukan took the initiative to build a better road for Lovelina’s house. “Now that he has won an Olympic medal, the government has built the road and I am very happy because it is a reward from the government for both Lovelina and our village,” said Tiken, Lovelina’s father.
