Chandigarh: A CTU electric bus crushed a patient in front of PGI at around 3.30 pm. He died on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Balraj Singh resident of Krishna Street Doraha. The police of Sector-11 police station reached the spot and arrested the accused driver Arvinder Singh, although he was later released on bail.

Balraj was undergoing treatment at PGI. On Sunday, he was coming to PGI on foot after crossing the road from Panjab University. Meanwhile, an electric bus of CTU ran into him near the PGI bus stand. According to eyewitnesses, the bus dragged Balraj to some distance. The incident was reported to the police and the injured were taken to GMSH-16, where doctors declared them brought dead.

The CTU bus was going from Khuda Alisher to Sector-43 bus stand. The accused driver Arvinder Singh works in depot number three. After his arrest, the police conducted his medical examination late in the evening. The police of Sector-11 police station have registered a case against the accused driver under section-279, 337 and 304A of the IPC.
