The police said that he was identified on Thursday morning and then he was arrested. The name of the accused is Huiram Herodas Meiti. His age is 32 years.

Supreme Court’s ultimatum to the government

The Supreme Court itself took cognizance of the case of two women being paraded naked in Manipur. CJI DY Chandrachud expressed concern over the parade of naked women on the road and gave an ultimatum to the government for action. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said, “If the government does not act, we will. Now is the time for the government to come forward and take action. This is absolutely unacceptable in a constitutional democracy. This is a very sad incident. Using women as a tool in communal warfare is the biggest affront to the Constitution. State and Central Government to state what action has been taken. Otherwise, action will be taken by the court. We will hear the matter on July 28.”
