However, sources in the sports ministry later said that the new WFI body has not been suspended, but only asked to follow all the rules that are necessary to run the WFI.
In the order issued by the Sports Ministry, it has been said that the competitions announced by the new organization are completely against the rules. Such decisions are taken by the Executive Committee, before which an agenda must be kept for consideration.
What did the Ministry of Sports say?
The government says that under the constitution of the WFI, meetings of the general council and the executive committee of the federation have to be convened. It appears that the Secretary General did not attend the said meeting of the Election Commission, which was held without any notice or quorum. The newly elected body is under the control of the former officials in complete disregard of the sports code.
Not only this, the Sports Ministry has also questioned Brij Bhushan Singh, the former president of WFI in its statement. He said that the business of the federation is running from the place of control of the former office bearers. Which is also the alleged complex, in which allegations of sexual harassment have been made against the players and the court is currently hearing the matter.
