Taste of Bharatpur: 100 years old shop was favorite of kings, still crazy in many states, have you tasted salty?

Bharatpur.Bharatpur of Rajasthan is world famous for Keoladeo National Park. Apart from this, there are many such dishes here, which have their own identity. One of them is the namkeen of the lover shop owner located in the town of Halaina, whose taste people are crazy about. The shop owner told that this salty was also liked by the King Maharajao. There is a demand for this namkeen in different regions of the country and a lot is consumed daily in a day.

Shop owner Premchand told that Namkeen is being made by us since about 100 years ago and now the fourth generation is handling this work. Even today it is maintaining its taste and quality. He claims that pure ingredients are used to make this namkeen and five to six types of namkeen are made. Sev, Moong Dal Mixture, Peanuts, Spicy Chana Dal, Chana Jor Garam, Spicy Peas are the main ones.

It costs more than 150 rupees to make one kilo of namkeen. This namkeen is sold to the customers at a price of Rs.200 per kg.

Jaiprakash alias Monu, son of Premchand confectioner, also works with his father in making and selling namkeen. They say that due to high consumption of salty, they prepare it every 7 days. This snack is popular with the local people as well as in different provinces. People of southern states including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Mumbai, Delhi also like it. People of these states get it ordered through their acquaintances. According to Jayaprakash, the business of this namkeen earns more than one lakh rupees per month.
