Chandigarh: Two jawans from Hoshiarpur and Tarn Taran have died due to being washed away in water in Jammu. The dead bodies of both will reach their village today.

According to the information, Teluram son of Gurdev Lal, aged 24, of Khuralgarh village of Hoshiarpur district, had joined the National Rifles Battalion about 5 years ago. At present he was posted in Poonch district of Kashmir and yesterday he drowned in the rapids while crossing the river by towing near Surankot along with other jawans and officers of the battalion. Meanwhile, the subedar of his battalion also died while trying to save him. The dead body of Teluram will reach the village today. Former sarpanch Ranjit Singh and Jaswinder Singh said that as soon as the news of Teluram’s death was received in the village, a wave of mourning spread throughout the village.

The army of Tarn Taran was also washed away in the water

Naib Subedar Kuldeep Singh of Swargapuri village in Tarn Taran district died after being swept away by water. His body has been recovered by the army. As soon as this information was received, there was an atmosphere of mourning in the village. Subedar Kuldeep Singh had duty in Jammu and Kashmir.

Father Sadhu Singh said that on Friday morning, Kuldeep Singh had called to know the family’s condition. He has two children (son and daughter). The family is waiting for the body of Kuldeep Singh to be cremated.
