Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira from Bhulath, who was arrested in the drugs case of 2015, has once again been sent to 2-day police remand by the court. After completing 14 days of judicial custody, he was produced in Jalalabad court on Tuesday. The police brought him from Nabha Jail on a production warrant.
Presenting their side, the police said that the investigating SIT has found some evidence against Sukhpal Khaira, for which it is necessary to interrogate him. According to these evidences, the relationship between Sukhpal Khaira and smuggler Gurdev Singh is revealed. In fact, Khaira had called the IG of Faridkot and the DIG of Ferozepur for Gurdev Singh. The police want to recover this phone so that forensic examination can be conducted and evidence can be prepared. Along with this, the investigation revealed that Khaira had three phones each, which are to be recovered.
Khaira was in contact with the accused Gurdev’s sister
The officials investigating the case have obtained the call details of Sukhpal Singh Khaira’s mobile phone. After which it has become clear that Khaira used to communicate with the accused Gurdev Singh through a woman named Charanjit Kaur. Let us tell you that Charanjit Kaur is the sister of Gurdev Singh, who is currently living in London. Charanjit Kaur used to talk to Sukhpal Khaira on the number of his PA Joga Singh. Khaira had contacted Charanjit Kaur several times over the phone a day before her arrest in March 2015.
‘Sun Khaira is preparing to go abroad’
The SIT has also claimed that a petition was secretly filed by Khahiran in the Mohali court, in which he sought permission to go abroad for treatment. Taking action on their application, the court asked them for the details of the medical staff and hospital treating them abroad.
