Sukhjinder Randhawa wrote a letter to Amit Shah! Demand to pass this law soon

Bureau report : In 2018, the then Captain government passed a strict punishment law in the Legislative Assembly against the incidents of blasphemy in Punjab. The bill was sent to the Governor, he sent it to the Ministry of Home Affairs, but even after 5 years, the Center has not taken any decision on it. In order to get the bill passed, former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and asked Sunil Jakhar, Captain Amarinder Singh that BJP’s kitchen cabinet should pass it. He has also asked the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to pass the law to the Kedar government so that the protection of the holy scriptures can be ensured.

Randhawa made this demand in the letter

Former Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa in a letter written to Home Minister Amit Shah said that desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is a big issue in Punjab. According to Section 295 and 295 A of the current law, the punishment for blasphemy is only 3 years. That is why in 2018, the Punjab Vidhan Sabha amended the Indian Penal Code Punjab Amendment Bill 2018 and the Code of Criminal Procedure Punjab Amendment Bill 2018 and added life imprisonment. In which the scriptures of all religions were included.

The Bill was passed by the Legislative Assembly on 12 September 2018 and sent to the Governor first and then to the Union Home Ministry on October 2018. But so far it has not been passed. Punjab is a border state, so it is very important that those people who want to spoil the environment by disrespecting should be severely punished to build brotherhood. Therefore, I request you to approve this bill as soon as possible. Earlier, when Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met Home Minister Amit Shah, he also demanded to pass the 2018 Bill as soon as possible.
