A controversy has arisen over the installation of an idol of Guru Gobind Singh Ji in a shopping mall in Patna. Leaders associated with Sikhism have strongly objected to it. Sikh religious leaders say that idol worship is prohibited in their religion, then in what capacity was the idol of Guru Sahib installed in the mall. They have demanded from the government that strict action should be taken against the shop owners.

Sikh leaders have alleged that all this work is being done deliberately under a well thought out conspiracy to hurt the sentiments of people associated with Sikhism. Member of Parliament from Bathinda and former Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that these conspiracies are being hatched to weaken the Sikh panth.

He said that those who work against the dignity of Sikhism should apologize with immediate effect and remove the statue. He said that our Gurus and Sri Guru Granth Sahib tell us about the formless form of God. That is why idol worship is prohibited in Sikh tradition.

The statue installed in Adani’s Ambuja Mall

The mall in Patna where there is opposition to installing the statue of Guru Sahib belongs to businessman Gautam Adani. An Andani company named Ambuja has built shopping malls in Patna. In which the statue of Dasam Pita Guru Gobind Singh Ji has been installed.
