Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and Gurjot Singh Khangura of Punjab won bronze medals in the skeet competition.

Punjab shooter Sifat Kaur Samra won one gold and one silver medal for India in the ongoing Asian Games at Hangzhou today. Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and Gurjot Singh Khangura of Punjab won the bronze medal in men’s skeet event.

Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hare congratulated the talented shooter Sifat of Faridkot and the two skeet shooters and said that they have brought the name of the state and the country to light with their best performance. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s dream of making Punjab the leading state in sports again will be fulfilled by players like Sift. The players of Punjab have been consistently performing well in the Asian Games.

He said that this achievement of the award is a source of inspiration for new age sportspersons especially girls in Punjab. He attributed this achievement to the shooter’s hard work and his parents and coaches. Sifat Samara was part of the torch march at the opening ceremony of the Games Watan Punjab. To prepare for the Asian Games, the Punjab government handed over a check of Rs 8 lakh to all the Punjabi athletes.

Sifat Kaur Samra, a student of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, won gold with a new world record score of 469.6 in the 50m rifle three position individual category at Hangzhou. In the same event, another shooter from India, Ashi Choksi, won bronze. Sifat, playing for the Indian team, won the silver medal in the 50m rifle three position team category.

In the skeet competition, the Indian team won the bronze medal in which Punjab’s Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and Gurjot Singh Khangura were part of the team.
