Strict international student visa rules have been implemented by Britain. Under this, international students including Indian students who have started studying in British universities will not be able to bring their family members along.

Giving more information about this, the British Home Office said that the purpose of these changes is to stop people using student visas as a back door to work in the UK. It is estimated that this will lead to 140,000 fewer people coming to Britain. These rules were announced by former Home Secretary Suella Braverman in May last year, which have now come into force.

According to the information provided by the British Office for National Statistics, 1,52,980 visas have been issued for the family members of students till the end of September 2023, while the number of these visas was only 14,839 till the end of September 2019.

Home Secretary Jessam Cleverley said that student visas are being used to bring their family members here, which has led to a 930 percent increase in the number of immigrants since 2019.

He said, 'Today, a major part of this plan has been implemented, which will stop the process of international students bringing their family members to Britain.
