CHOs serving in Health and Wellness Centers say that they will gherao the Chief Minister’s residence on Saturday for their demands and even after this, if the demands are not met, CHOs serving in more than 1600 Health and Wellness Centers across the state will go on a complete strike. . On Friday, the residence of Health Minister Banna Gupta in Doranda was surrounded. In this, a large number of women from far-flung areas along with their small children had reached Ranchi. In August 2022, a letter related to the service manual was issued by the Additional Secretary and Campaign Director, National Health Mission. Accordingly all the CHOs are demanding regularization. These include demands like posting in the home district, payment of incentives, security as well as starting the process of making rules clarifying the benefits and responsibilities of insurance.

Medical workers movement on 39th day also

Along with the Jharkhand Contracted Para Medical Employees Union, the joint agitation of the Jharkhand NRHM ANM-GNM Union continued on the 39th day as well. Sitting on dharna in front of the Raj Bhavan, no representative of the government came to talk to them. Even on Friday, most of the labs in all sub centers and rural areas of the state remained closed. The national program MDA was also affected. Union secretary Naveen Kumar Gupta said that health services are disrupted across the state, so far no agreement has been reached. State President of Jharkhand State Non-Gazetted Employees Federation Gopal Ji Sharan, General Secretary Sudesh Kumar, Naki Ahmed, Meera Kumari, Veena Kumari from Jharkhand State NRHM ANM GNM Contract Employees Union and a large number of employees associated with the union were present in the programme.

Minister will hold meeting today regarding demands

Jharkhand government has taken a big decision. Health Minister Banna Gupta will hold a meeting at Nepal House on Saturday regarding the process of regularizing the jobs of contract and contractual employees under the Health Department. On the 40th day of the strike of paramedical workers, departmental ministers, officials of the department and representatives of paramedical and TB workers of the union will sit on a table for direct talks. Minister’s Emergency Secretary Asif Ekram has informed about this by writing a letter to Additional Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Singh. The meeting is to be held in the Development Commissioner Auditorium, in which a detailed report has been called from the union on the memorandum related to the demands. Let us tell you that in the past, a committee was formed under the chairmanship of NHM campaign director regarding the adjustment of contract workers. The adjustment of contract workers working in NHM was recommended by the committee against the vacant posts under the health department.

Para medical workers want to join on the lines of 2014

All para medical personnel working on contract in state government hospitals and medical colleges such as A grade nurse, ANM, Pharmacist, Lab and X-ray technician in the appointment process on permanent posts under the state government, earlier file number – 10, para medical 7- 5-2012 and 30 -01- 2014 want to join direct recruitment on the lines of rules. Do not want to accept the compulsion of any kind of examination in this. Whereas, the state government has decided to give weightage to contract workers in the permanent appointment of para medical personnel.

The road to regularization is not easy

Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission, after inviting applications in the year 2015, postponed the recruitment exam due to a glitch in the rules. New rules were made in the year 2018, but many errors came to the fore in this too. After this, in the year 2014, a file was also started regarding the regularization of workers working on contract (except ANM and A grade nurse) in NHM, Jharkhand. From time to time, demands were raised regarding this, but no decision could be taken by the government.
